You also want to remember to invite the right mix of people. Invite people that will gel instead of individuals you know will clash. It doesn't hurt to invite that one controversial guest that will intrigue everyone. Just make sure they are inline with the theme of the party.

Try not push the limits. Your ultimate goal is for everyone to enjoy themselves. Keep in mind that you should invite the right people to the right party. You don't want to invite a group of party animals to a tea party. Think about your demographic and plan accordingly.
